[Kajabi How To] Edit Your 404 Page

It happens to the best of us. No matter how hard we work at keeping our website links current, things slip through the cracks. Instead of landing where they were supposed to on our website or blog, someone instead comes upon the least favorite place on any site, the dreaded 404 page. Womp womp ....

What in the Heck is a 404 Page?

Just in case you've never heard the term, let's go over a definition real quick!
 
404 Page n. A website page that is automatically shown in place of another webpage in case the latter cannot be found.
 
So basically, if someone arrives at your Kajabi site via an online link - say, Google, a social media post, a Pin on Pinterest, etc. - and that exact page URL is no longer active for whatever reason, they'll get a 404 page.
 
The 404 page that comes pre-designed in your Kajabi account isn't all that sexy, to be honest. There's not a lot we can do to edit it but we can make some small improvements so let's do it!
 

How to Edit Your 404 Page in Kajabi

Just as if you were going to customize your site or blog, you get started the same way to edit your 404 page. Here are the quick steps to follow:

 

1. Go to Website > Design > 404 Page > Customize

 

2. Once you're on the Customize page, there's not much you can do to it other than:

  • access the standard Settings options like font, favicon, etc.
  • add an image
  • change the "404" title and page text

 

 

A Few Kajabi 404 Page Suggestions

1. Add an Image

Other than a heading and a bit of text, adding an image is the only thing you can do to a Kajabi 404 page - so why not?

2. Say SOMETHING

You actually got someone to your Kajabi site so don't pass up this opportunity by having a lackluster or "nothing" 404 page. At least say something so they know you're funny and cool and you care :).

3. Add Some Humor

I don't know about you but I've seen some really fun 404 pages over the years. So feel free to add some humor to your 404 page. Take every chance you get to further establish your personality and brand identity on your site, even your lil' 404 page.

 

Again, the content is pretty restricted here but I had a little fun with my own 404 page 😂

 

We made sure our branding fonts and colors were in Settings, added an image,  added some humor to the 404 Text, and changed the wording of the 404 Link text. That's it! But those little changes did make a nice difference in the 404 page!
